Thanks to the industrial revolution we have been blessed with many modern conveniences that have enabled the abundance of foods that we enjoy, electricity, automobiles, cell phones and many other things. Refrigeration, preservatives and transportation have enabled foods to be transported over long distances and stored for long periods of time so that we can enjoy a wide variety of delicious foods year round. We live in warm homes in the winter and cool homes in the summer with soft carpets and beautiful floors. Many wonders have been afforded us in our modern era including microwaves, water on tap and instant foods.
But, unfortunately there are risks imposed by many of the blessings and wonders of the products of our modern age. Crop yields are enhanced through the use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. Milk output is increased in cows through the use of recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH). There is pollution in our air and mercury in our fish as a result of the power industry burning coal to produce our electricity. Pollutants that we are exposed to both indoors and out are increasing our risks of asthma, cancer, infertility, birth defects, reproductive disorders, learning disorders, poor behavior, obesity and diabetes. Now we are finding that there is lead in our drinking water. Over the next year we are going to be discussing ways to detox your body, your home and your life.
